Fabio Paratici Working Towards Signing ‘Top-Tier’ Player, Linked Earlier to A Club Spurs Were Eyeing

Fabio Paratici is operating behind the scenes to assist Lazio in their attempt to sign Wilfried Zaha this summer – a development that comes just a few months after Tottenham Hotspur were believed to be confident about acquiring the same player.

The news comes from a Football Transfers report, stating that the Crystal Palace soccer sensation is likely to make a move to Lazio, having discussed terms with multiple football clubs.

Rumours earlier this year suggested that Wilfried Zaha had his sights set on joining the Spurs team. A March London World story mentioned that Tottenham was optimistic about bringing Zaha on board after discussions with his agents.

The rumours linking Zaha to Spurs have become considerably quieter recently. There might be a convincing explanation behind that.

Football Transfers reveals that contract terms have been agreed upon by Zaha and several clubs, including Fenerbahce, Al-Nassr and even his current club, Crystal Palace. However, Zaha seems to be leaning towards joining Lazio.

The report indicates that Zaha’s desire to participate in the Champions League is a significant motivator in his decision making. Most notably, it’s highlighted that Fabio Paratici is coordinating the deal discreetly.

Interestingly, even after leaving his role as Tottenham’s director of football in April under a ban, Paratici has kept a certain amount of sway at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, serving the club in a consultancy role.

As of now, Lazio appears to be leading the race towards signing Zaha, partially facilitated by Paratici’s efforts.

However, Tottenham seems to be pursuing different avenues. According to The Athletic, Spurs are finalising a five-year contract with Manor Solomon.

Given this, the need for adding Zaha to their squad lessens. It should also be noted that this predates the time when Ange Postecoglou was announced as the club’s new manager.

Zaha is considered a ‘world-class’ player, and his enduring contract situation makes him an enticing catch for many.

The current scenario seems to suggest that Paratici may clinch the deal for Zaha, beating out Tottenham.
