Club Closer to Sealing £8.5m Transfer for Tottenham Superstar

Reports suggest Napoli is trying to recruit Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this season, but they fall short of Tottenham’s asking price by £8.5 million.

This news comes from TuttoMercatoWeb, who states that Tottenham is expecting around £21.5 million in exchange for the Argentine player this summer.

The future of Lo Celso at Tottenham remains uncertain after his year-long loan term at Villarreal.

Last season, the 27-year-old once again showed excellent performance in La Liga, scoring two goals and assisting three times in 22 games.

He found himself on the sidelines under Antonio Conte’s management last January. Although he’s part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the pre-season tour, a transfer this summer is a real possibility.

Napoli Negotiating for Lo Celso

Reports from TMW reveal that Napoli are adamant about signing Lo Celso from Tottenham this season.

Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs, with Tottenham requesting approximately €25 million (£21.5 million) for the player.

However, Napoli’s current offer is about £8.5 million less than what Tottenham deems appropriate.

During the pre-season, Lo Celso will have the chance to impress Postecoglou and he seems a suitable fit for the Aussie’s style.

However, the ‘outstanding’ player has had difficulty finding his place at Tottenham since his transfer from Real Betis in 2019. He did well under Jose Mourinho’s charge initially but was quickly shown the exit by Conte.

Unquestionably, Tottenham will have to reduce an inflated team in the following weeks after listing a 31-man group for their pre-season Asia tour.

Considering Lo Celso’s previous performances in the Premier League, his exit wouldn’t come as a shock.
