The possibility of Clement Lenglet’s departure from Barcelona has been on the horizon for a while. More specifically, the 28-year-old spent last season at Spurs on loan, and there was significant speculation about his return to Tottenham

Reports Indicate Lenglet Nearing Al-Nassr Deal Despite Tottenham Return Speculation

Mundo Deportivo implied in early July that a transfer of Lenglet to Tottenham was likely within a fortnight, pending agreement on the transfer fee.

Contrarily, the latest information indicates Lenglet may join the wave of players transferring to Saudi Arabia this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Al-Nassr and Barca are nearing a contractual agreement for Lenglet at a relatively low cost, with the intent of removing his contract from the team’s payroll.

The reports also mention, Lenglet is yet to give a nod to the proposed move, suggesting the possibility of the agreement falling apart.

Lenglet’s expected move to Tottenham this summer hardly sparked excitement among Spurs fans. Though his performance in North London was solid, he failed to make a significant impact in an otherwise mediocre Spurs team.

90min has reported Tottenham is increasing its pursuit of Micky van de Ven, potentially leaving Ange Postecoglou with a new player.

It’s important to note, the likelihood of Spurs fans preferring Lenglet’s return over the arrival of the Dutch player is low.
