Potential Injury Scares Tottenham’s £25m Player in Today’s Game

There was visible concern as Yves Bissouma of Tottenham Hotspur hobbled off during the half-time cool-down of a game against Lion City Sailors.

According to sports journalist Alasdair Gold who witnessed the friendly game of Tottenham.

Tottenham experienced a tough first half during their last friendly match in the pre-season tour.

Ange Postecoglou fielded a formidable team to contest with the Singapore Premier League side.

Almost all the players in the squad currently vie for their place in the team.

The trio of forwards, Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min along with Harry Kane, are likely to remain unchanged.

James Maddison showcased impressive performance and Postecoglou seems to highly regard Yves Bissouma.

Bissouma formed a duo with Pape Matar Sarr in midfield, while the defense of Tottenham exhibited some vulnerabilities once again.

Tottenham conceded an easy goal, leaving Guglielmo Vicario powerless.

However, the real concern for Tottenham is Bissouma’s situation at half-time.

The valuable £25m midfielder was spotted limping away from the field after finishing his warm-down.

Another injury is the last thing the footballer from Mali would want at this point.

Bissouma hobbles off the field for Tottenham at half-time

Alasdair Gold posted on Twitter: “During the half-time warm down, Spurs’ first half players performed some long runs across the field before being substituted.

“Yves Bissouma seemed to be in pain afterwards. He collapsed to the ground and appeared to point to his foot. We hope it’s not his ankle. He’s now hobbling off the field.”

As touched upon by Gold, Bissouma was out for a portion of the previous season due to an ankle injury.

Under Antonio Conte’s regime, he didn’t quite hit his stride like he might have hoped.

The strategies employed didn’t favor the midfield player, leading to some struggles in adapting to his playing style.

An ankle fracture immobilized the 26-year-old for almost three months, and he was anticipated to miss the rest of the campaign.

However, he made a comeback under Ryan Mason and has shown promising form in the pre-season.

Amidst talks of potentially selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, injury to Bissouma at half-time couldn’t come at a worse time.

If Hojbjerg departs and Bissouma is out for the long term, Spurs might be compelled to scout the transfer market.

Given their urgent need for at least one centre-back, another potential financial burden in the upcoming month diverting from their priority area is unwanted.
