Tottenham Aims to Derail Barcelona’s Attempt to Sign Outstanding Player, but Faces Obstacle

Tottenham Hotspur is purportedly among the football clubs attempting to deter Barcelona’s bid for the promising Brazilian player, Vitor Roque.

As reported by the Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Spurs have been liaising with Roque’s agents.

Spurs’ transfer window proceedings have been hopeful so far, with the confirmed signings of players such as James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario.

Additionally, Tottenham have also secured Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus, making his 18-month loan at the club a confirmed deal.

According to Spanish sources, the club is hoping to persuade Vitor Roque to decline Barcelona’s offer and instead choose to move to North London.

Tottenham Vying to Prevent Barca’s Move for Roque

Mundo Deportivo, as reported by Sport Witness, suggests that Spurs continue to show interest in Roque.

The 18-year-old is nearing a switch to Barcelona, with the Catalan club currently in substantial discussions with Athletico Paranaense.

It is highlighted that there exists a ‘pre-agreement’ between the two clubs. However, Spurs have engaged Roque’s management, trying to alter his decision.

Mundo Deportivo points out that Roque is leaning toward Barcelona.

Roque has earned the label of an ‘extraordinary’ talent following his successful season in Brazil.

The striker has contributed to 19 goals in 28 match appearances in all competitions, and he also received his inaugural cap for Brazil in March.

Spurs might try to sign another forward in the remaining phase of the transfer window considering Arnaut Danjuma returning to Villarreal after his brief loan period.

However, as of now, Tottenham is more focused on bolstering its defence ahead of the forthcoming season.

Even though Roque appears to be a promising talent, it would be surprising if Spurs decide to bring in another offensive player before addressing their defensive needs.
