Tottenham’s “extraordinary” player highly unlikely to transfer to Man Utd, says Sky journalist

The rumor mill has been buzzing about Harry Kane’s potential move to Manchester United this summer, but it now appears that the speculation may come to an end.

As per Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth’s report on Sky Sports News, the chances of Manchester United successfully signing Harry Kane are quite thin.

Primarily, Tottenham is reluctant to transfer Kane to a competing team within the Premier League. Moreover, given the recent signings of Mason Mount and Andre Onana, United would find it challenging to seal this deal while also adhering to FFP spending rules.

Highly challenging

Sheth divulged what he knows about the ‘extraordinary’ forward’s prospects.

“As far as our understanding goes, Tottenham’s position remains unchanged. They do not wish to transfer Kane to a Premier League adversary. Although there was chatter about Manchester United restarting negotiations, my sources indicate that Manchester United won’t be proceeding with this. The transfer fee and salary would be nearly impossible to meet under the financial fair play regulations,” Sheth reported.

Never a strong possibility

Givn the FFP constraints, it shoud be acknowledged that this move was always a long shot.

Manchester United and Tottenham have traditionally not engaged in much trading, making the notion of Spurs selling their best ever player to United quite improbable.

Daniel Levy has consistently displayed a reluctance to sell to direct competitors, and he certainly believes that United and Spurs could be on the same footing this season.

Whether Harry Kane decides to transfer is an open question, but as it presently stands, it seems that a move to Old Trafford is off the cards.
