Speculations about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s potential exit from Tottenham have been ongoing.
The Danish midfielder seemed destined to leave Tottenham throughout the summer, with Atletico Madrid showing strong interest. It felt like his departure announcement was imminent.
Nevertheless, news suggests there’s a slight possibility that Hojbjerg might stay with Spurs.
During a discussion on The Tottenham Way Podcast, Tom Barclay shared his opinions on Hojbjerg’s future. Barclay admits he anticipates the £15 million player will leave but claims he’s not completely convinced of his departure.

Diminutive Possibility of Hojbjerg Remaining
Barclay disclosed his insights on the ex-Southampton midfielder.
He noted, “Hojbjerg was slated to play the second match, but interpreting these starting line-ups is anyone’s guess. Although I anticipate his move, I’m not as certain as before. Ultimately, it depends on the potential suitors – we are aware of Atletico Madrid’s interest. I won’t be much surprised if he stays put as opposed to how I felt a couple of weeks ago,” said Barclay.

Overpopulated Midfield
The need for Hojbjerg’s exit intensifies as Tottenham’s midfield is getting congested.
Spurs’ coach, Ange Postecoglou, values Pape Matar Sarr and Oliver Skipp highly. Players like Rodrigo Bentancur are soon to return from injuries while Yves Bissouma has a critical role this season. There are also indications that Giovani Lo Celso might stay with Spurs.
Given these circumstances, Hojbjerg may not have a significant place with Tottenham anymore, making his transfer a rational move.
While there is a slight probability of him staying, the unlikely event of his departure wouldn’t be surprising.
