Harry Winks of Tottenham Hotspur has captured the attention of Leeds United who are considering bringing him onboard.
As reported by Ben Jacobs during the City Chat Podcast, there seems to be quite an interest from Leeds in the Tottenham midfielder. It was also mentioned that Leicester has their eyes on him.
Winks, who plays for the England national team, is up for grabs at Tottenham, and there might be a surprising decision from Leeds to approach him for the Championship.
Jacobs said that Leeds United had Winks in mind for signing earlier too. This isn’t the first time the Spurs midfielder was being pursued by them.
In the last transfer window under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, Winks had his name proposed. Although Bielsa didn’t follow through with the proposal then, Leeds United seems to have maintained their desire to bring Winks onboard.
Thoughts on Winks Joining Leeds
Jacobs expressed his thoughts about Winks’ potential signing.
Jacobs stated, “Both Leeds and Leicester have demonstrated their interest in Harry Winks. There is an opportunity in the market considering Winks may no longer be required at Tottenham. He may not fit appropriately or be deemed suitable for Ange Postecoglou. Talks are already in progress concerning a deal. There is no clear preference for Winks between Leeds and Leicester, although it appears that Leicester is more ahead with their negotiations. Winks’ intellectual football skills and energetic attitude at the Championship level make him an ideal choice. However, his susceptibility to injuries could be a disadvantage.”

While Harry Winks might be easily dismissed, the reality is that he could make a significant impact in the Championship.
As an England international who is brimming with talent, he should easily outperform other players in the Championship. Nevertheless, as pointed out by Jacobs, the issue of injuries could be a significant drawback. If he manages to maintain his fitness, either Leeds or Leicester is likely to land a top-notch player.
