It’s likely that Ange Postecoglou might be welcoming a senior centre-back to the club soon.
Potential new member could be Micky Van de Ven, who had attended Tottenham’s recent victory over Shakhtar and underwent a medical assessment yesterday.
Alejo Veliz, a young striker, has also joined the training grounds of Tottenham and is predicted to sign within the next few days.
Max Kilman was one of the players deemed suitable for Postecoglou’s team.
The defender, aged 26, has impressed everyone in the last Premier League seasons.
However, one aspect of his game discouraged the Australian coach from considering him for Tottenham.
Postecoglou’s advice to Tottenham: Don’t sign Kilman
Talking about Tottenham’s hunt for a centre-back, Spiers commented, “Speed, I believe, is a critical factor in their keenness to enlist Micky Van de Ven.
“Max Kilman from Wolves was examined thoroughly, and the recruitment team had high praises for him, understandably so.
“Kilman and Van de Ven share many common features, including their physical attributes and size, plus Kilman is very proficient technically.
With a similar price tag, I’ve heard Kilman could be bought for £40m.
“However, Kilman’s lack of speed is a worrying factor for Postecoglou.
I’ve learned that the recruitment team was interested in Kilman, but Postecoglou wasn’t, probably due to this reason.”
Kilman’s inadequate speed complements Tottenham’s presumed playing style.
Van de Ven is recognized for his speed, and Cristian Romero also leans towards an offensive tactic.
Both Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie also like to push forward, which implies Tottenham may play exceedingly vibrant football.
Postecoglou might, quite possibly, introduce a playing style that Tottenham fans haven’t witnessed in a long time.
