“However, as I stated about a week ago, I’m less certain now than before of his impending departure.

“I reckon Spurs, like with [Harry] Kane, would be open to bidding if they receive a desirable offer. Hojbjerg himself might play a part in the decision as well.

“The fact that he played yesterday [against Shakhtar] despite more players anticipated to play that didn’t, shows something.

“Meanwhile, [Yves] Bissouma was benched.”

“This implies, despite not being the natural fit for the fast, fluid and appealing football that Postecoglou aspires to implement, he has several strengths.

“While some supporters ridicule his sideways and backwards passing, he remains ultra-professional, dependable and played at the level he did for a reason.

“If the transfer falls through, I believe he could play a crucial role in this season.”
