Well-known former Footballer and now sports analyst, Gary Neville has made a prediction about Tottenham Hotspur’s league standing at the end of this season.
Speaking in the latest discussion on The Overlap, Neville shared his thoughts on how the top eight in the Premier League will shape up.
With the immense task of purging the Spurs squad, Ange Postecoglou certainly has his work cut out for him, but Tottenham has so far managed to secure some notable players.
Indeed, recent acquisitions for the Tottenham club include Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, and Ashley Phillips.
Other imminent announcements involve Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz following closely behind the four new recruits.
There’s much speculation around what to expect from the Spurs this season as Postecoglou seeks to introduce a significantly different style of play from that of the previous managerial regime.
According to Neville’s analysis, he expects Tottenham to land in the eighth position, trailing teams like Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Chelsea.

Neville Unveils Tottenham Forecast
During the conversation on The Overlap, Neville was asked to share his anticipated outcomes for the upcoming season.
“Considering the factor of third time’s the charm and lacking a fourth win, I predict Arsenal to clinch the league title, City coming in second,” Neville stated. “I believe Arsenal can overpower them.”
“I’m predicting Arsenal, City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa, Newcastle, and Tottenham in that order. As for Newcastle and Tottenham’s performance, I think Newcastle has a chance at the Champions League, as for Tottenham, their future appears less certain.”

It can hardly be considered shocking that Neville has expressed a sense of ambiguity surrounding Tottenham’s performance this season.
Though Postecoglou has achieved success in all his managerial ventures, he is a relatively new face in English football.
Having said that, Postecoglou did lead Celtic to an historic domestic triple last season while also claiming various titles in Japan and Australia.
Providing he gets the appropriate backing before the transfer window closes, he may well pull off some surprises at Tottenham this season.
With the expected slow start for Tottenham as players familiarise themselves with Postecoglou’s tactics, if they are able to retain their key man, Harry Kane, there could be a chance for a surprise push for a top-four finish.
