Manchester United Set Sights on Highly Coveted Player Also Pursued by Tottenham

According to Fabrizio Romano, discussions have been held between Manchester United and the agents of Randal Kolo Muani, an aspiring target of Tottenham Hotspur.

The information comes from Romano’s interviews with GiveMeSport, where he provided an update on United’s ongoing hunt for new attacking talent.

The team, under Erik ten Hag, appears to be looking elsewhere after their expressed interest in Harry Kane was explored this summer.

Last month, The Guardian disclosed that United withdrew from the Kane interest due to the transfer pursuit deemed ‘unrealistic’.

Presently, it looks like the Red Devils are turning their attention toward signing Randal Kolo Muani, a striker whose prospects have been linked with a transfer to Tottenham.

Manchester United Make Their Move for Kolo Muani

During his discussion with GiveMeSport, Romano confirmed recent contact between United and the representatives of Kolo Muani.

He revealed that the tag price for Kolo Muani is close to €100m (£85m). “Indeed, Manchester United has engaged in discussions within the last fortnight to review the terms of the deal, but Eintracht’s stand is a €100m fee. They also harbor aspirations of retaining the player for an additional season, hoping to transfer him in the summer of 2024,” he explained.

In April, The Sun published reports of Tottenham showing interest in acquiring the French player this offseason.

Kolo Muani demonstrated an excellent performance for Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, scoring 23 times and creating 17 goals in all games.

Applauded by Jermaine Jenas for a ‘brilliant’ substitute performance in the final, the 24-year-old equally left an impression at the previous year’s World Cup representing France.

Simultaneous to these developments, Bayern Munich is accelerating their efforts to secure Kane this summer, compelling Spurs to consider long-term replacements.

With only one year remaining on Kane’s current contract and him appearing unlikely to sign a contract extension, it’s a pressing matter.

To circumvent another potentially distracting transfer storyline concerning the English player, Tottenham needs to settle Kane’s future promptly.

If Spurs lose Kane later in the transfer window, it could hinder their chances of finding an adequate replacement. To add to their concerns, it appears United has a clear focus on Kolo Muani.
