Chief Rejects Tottenham’s Bid for ‘Extremely Important Player’, Not Giving any Rationale

Tottenham has marked Edmond Tapsoba as their prime objective for the forthcoming summer transfer window, yet getting him on board might prove challenging.

Considering Bayer Leverkusen’s previous loss of Moussa Diaby, it’s logical that they are reluctant to part with another significant player like Tapsoba.

Bayer’s Sports Director, Simon Rolfes, communicated recently that they have no intention to transfer Tapsoba this summer.

Rolfes emphasized the essential role of Tapsoba in their team and asserted that there is no compelling reason to part with him at this time.

No intention to sell

Rolfes addressed the rumors about Tapsoba’s future.

“No, not in normal circumstances. Of course, there will be boundaries, but Edmond is quite important for our team,” Rolfes explained.

“He is without a doubt one of our top players. He is still under a long-term contract, so we have no thoughts of letting him leave at present.”

“Considering the talent he displayed recently, and his continual improvement, I won’t be surprised if there is a lot of interest.”

Extremely tough

This deal seems to be quite tough to seal, especially for Tottenham.

As Rolfes mentioned, finance plays a pivotal part in football agreements, yet Tottenham has not been notorious for generous proposals or lavish spending on players.

Tapsoba’s current market worth is approximately £45m, although after Rolfes’ recent remarks, his availability at this price seems doubtful.

Tottenham has traditionally been frugal in its spending habits, thus it would be no surprise if they choose not to pursue this deal.

It’s likely that Spurs may investigate more cost-effective alternatives.
