Chris Sutton Responds to Recent Remarks on Ange Postecoglou and Celtic

Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton acclaimed West Ham coach David Moyes for his observations on Ange Postecoglou and Celtic.

Postecoglou departed Celtic Park to become the manager of Tottenham in May following a successful spell in Scotland. The Australian manager secured an unprecedented eighth domestic treble and was succeeded by Brendan Rodgers, another manager with a history of treble victories.

Questions have been raised about Postecoglou’s transition from Scottish football to English Premier League as he endeavors to restore Tottenham’s success.

Doubts about Postecoglou’s ability to handle the stress of managing a high-profile English team were dismissed by Moyes, who noted Postecoglou’s experience with Celtic will serve him well.

“The pressure of managing Celtic Football Club, one of the top supported clubs globally, is far greater,” Moyes noted. “Having managed Celtic, he’s well-equipped to handle pressure, so this won’t pose a problem.” The Evening Standard published his remarks.

Moyes’s comments were well-received by Sutton, a former Celtic player.

Sutton’s Response to Moyes’ Thoughts on Postecoglou and Celtic

Sutton responded on Twitter to Moyes’s comments, which were made in a media briefing before a pre-season game against Tottenham.

He posted: “David Moyes is absolutely on point.”

Furthermore, Postecoglou has previously downplayed the perceived increased pressure that came with his move from Celtic Park to Spurs.

At his inaugural press conference as Tottenham’s new manager, Postecoglou articulated that at Celtic, anything less than first was akin to being last.

The former Celtic boss remains unbowed by his move to the Premier League.

Moyes is in full agreement with Postecoglou’s sentiments about the Celtic role, and now Sutton has added his name to the list of supporters.

Despite the Premier League’s higher play level, Postecoglou’s Glasgow experience should have prepared him well for his new responsibilities at Tottenham.
