Fabrizio Romano Hints at Potential £45m Replacement for Spurs’ Harry Kane

Tottenham may face Harry Kane’s exit this summer.

Speculation keeps fueling around the future of the striker, with a supposed transfer to Bayern Munich on the cards.

Should Kane exit Tottenham, prudent reinvestment of the received proceeds from the transfer would be crucial.

Presumably, if Kane’s transfer is confirmed, Spurs would promptly invest a hefty sum in purchasing a new forward.

Yet, as per Fabrizio Romano, this might not be their primary concern.

Drawing from his Here We Go Podcast, Romano stated that the cash from selling Kane might go towards engaging Edmond Tapsoba.

Potential Move for Tapsoba

Romano offered his thoughts on the £45m player and Spurs’ intention to acquire him.

“With regards to potential transfers, Edmond Tapsoba has been on the list. It’s something I’ve been echoing consistently—Tottenham finds Tapsoba very appealing and sees him as a high-priority target. Negotiating with Bayer Leverkusen is tough since they ask for a hefty price. This makes the negotiation complex. If Tottenham sells Kane and gets considerable funds to invest, Tapsoba’s engagement could turn from theoretical to practical,” Romano stated.

The Bigger Picture

Using funds from selling your top striker to bring in a defender may seem unconventional. However, a noticeable gap exists within Tottenham’s defense that calls for attention.

In the present scenario, securing a new center-back might be as valuable as signing a new striker for Tottenham, especially when they already have attackers like Heung-Min Son and Richarlison.

While their offensive line cannot be overlooked, maintaining a balanced team plays an integral role in achieving success rather than solely relying on a focused massive attack.
