It’s doubtful that Tottenham will keep £32m player next season

Sergio Reguilon, the defender of Tottenham Hotspur, might not continue to be on the team next season, even though he appeared in the recent pre-season friendly game.

This information is provided by The Athletic, which has shared an update about Reguilon’s future at Spurs.

Reguilon, who has recently returned from a year-long loan spell at Atletico Madrid, is eager to perform well for Ange Postecoglou.

The Spanish player didn’t have the best start in the game yesterday in Perth, where Spurs suffered a 3-2 defeat to West Ham.

The 26-year-old showed potential in his offensive play, but his defensive skills were questioned as he struggled to counter Jarrod Bowen and was criticized for the first goal by West Ham.

Rumors of his departure from Tottenham have been circulating, following a less than successful loan spell in Madrid the previous season.

Even though Postecoglou appears keen to further assess Reguilon’s abilities, it’s probable that he will leave during this summertime. 

Reguilon’s continuation at Tottenham seems doubtful

As per The Athletic’s report, it is improbable that Reguilon will be at Tottenham next season.

His performance in the friendly game yesterday doesn’t seem to have dispelled any doubts about his capability to fit into Postecoglou’s team.

Postecoglou reportedly plans to sell Reguilon this summer, as Spanish reports highlight that he’s not in the Spurs’ boss’s favor.

Reguilon joined Spurs in 2020 when he switched from Real Madrid for £32 million. 

He arrived after a promising loan at Sevilla and seemed to be the next left-back for Tottenham. His tenure in North London didn’t quite match up to expectations though, and it isn’t a shock to see him potentially leave this summer.

Destiny Udogie, after his signing last year, already joined the club and his performance in replacing Reguilon yesterday was notable.
