North London football giant Tottenham has initiated the process of removing several players from their roster through the transfer window. Ryan Sessegnon is among those players that have been put up for sale by the club’s new manager, Ange Postecoglou.
The Telegraph informs that Spurs are actively seeking to make a deal for Sessegnon this summer, adding that several other prominent team members are also being offered for sale. In addition to weeding out the roster, Postecoglou has started to identify potential new players to engage.
New team members Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison joined Spurs following Postecoglou’s appointment as the club’s new head coach. The Australian coach believes the team needs to recruit yet another centre-half and is considering possibilities to this task while securing the required funds.

Ryan Sessegnon is Available for Transfer
In addition to Sessegnon, team members like Davinson Sanchez, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon, and Ivan Perisic are also in a state of limbo due to the extensive restructuring by Postecoglou. Harry Winks is expected to transition to Leicester City, while Spurs are open to receiving offers for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Spurs are proactively seeking to offload Sessegnon, who participated in only 17 Premier League matches in the 2022/2023 season and was in the starting eleven only nine times. A hamstring injury halted his campaign in February.
Before falling injured, Sessegnon was a consistent presence in Antonio Conte’s team. However, Conte, the previous coach, never regarded him as his top choice. Despite being fit for six, Sessegnon was included in the starting lineup for only two out of his three Champions League fixtures.

Why is Spurs Moving Sessegnon this Summer?
Postecoglou apparently agrees with Conte’s perspective that Sessegnon should not be Tottenham’s primary left-back player. As a result, the club is hoping to capitalize while Sessegnon still commands a significant transfer fee. His contract concludes its penultimate year on July 1st.
Sessegnon joined Spurs from Fulham on a five-year agreement in August 2019. However, the contract, worth £25m, affords Tottenham the option of extending it to June 2025. According to the stipulations of the transfer, Fulham receives an additional £5m on top of Sessegnon’s transfer.
Spurs are wary of letting their investment depreciate completely. Therefore, the club is determined to find Sessegnon a new home as part of their squad reshuffle in order to generate finances for Postecoglou’s plans, even though ex-manager Jose Mourinho labeled him as ‘absolutely fantastic’ in 2019.
