Sam Allardyce Reveals That One Tottenham Player Performed Exceptionally Well Last Season

Even though Harry Kane has been a major topic in this summer’s transfer window, it’s important to remember that prior to the transfer rumours, his performances on the field weren’t gaining much attention last season.

Tottenham’s performance last term was notably poor. However, it could be argued that it might have been Kane’s best season yet.

Last season, Kane scored an impressive 30 goals in the Premier League. He would have been the undisputed Golden Boot winner had it not been for Erling Haaland’s excellent season.

Due to Haaland’s incredible performance last year, Kane did not receive the recognition and praise that he truly deserved.

According to Sam Allardyce, who spoke on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Kane’s performance was overlooked last season.

Kane’s Underappreciated Success

Allardyce made some comments about the forward.

“Signing Harry Kane would enhance your team’s goal tally by approximately 50%. Although Haaland’s performance at Man City overshadowed him last year, Kane still scored 30 goals, not just 18 or 20,” remarked Allardyce.

“When Sir Alex was aiming to win the league, he acquired Van Persie at 32. The purchase of Harry Kane would enable Man United to closely compete with Arsenal and Man City,” Allardyce added.

Consistent Excellence

At the present moment, Harry Kane seems to be suffering from what some may term as the “Mo Salah syndrome,” where his remarkable goal-scoring accomplishments aren’t commended as much since they are simply expected.

Every single season, Kane is anticipated to score over 20 goals. Thus, it doesn’t come as a surprise when he’s leading the goal-scoring charts. However, if a player like Ivan Toney disrupts this expectation, he becomes the center of attention.

Kane is held to higher standards compared to other strikers, which is a testament to his consistent excellence year after year.

Allardyce pointed out that Kane’s performance last season was glossed over. Any other season, he would’ve been named Player of the Year. However, due to his team’s sub-par performance and Haaland’s rise to prominence, his efforts were not adequately recognized.
