Tottenham Allegedly Pondering Over £15m Player’s Sale

Reports suggest that Tottenham have had casual talks with Atletico Madrid concerning a possible sale of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Sky Sports’ Paul Gilmour reportedly revealed this on Last Word on Spurs in relation to the player.

Hojbjerg, the player from Denmark, has been rumored to be on Atletico’s radar for some time, and as per Gilmour, there has been some informal exchange between the two clubs about his potential transfer.

While the proceedings are not far enough along, it does appear that a dialogue has been initiated and the details surrounding the transfer are being delved into.

Preliminary Conversations

Gilmour shared his insights about Hojbjerg.

“The context is that if any of their midfielders leave, the club might show more interest in potential replacements and Hojbjerg could be a consideration. Atletico Madrid has shown curiosity and there have been some loose talks. Those talks revolved around what his transfer could cost, what his salary would be and so on. The fact that he’s currently with the team suggests nothing is concrete yet and the club would need to let a player go before bringing another one in,” explained Gilmour.

Decisive Phase

This transfer tale is entering a critical stage.

Atletico is now aware of the deal’s conditions and what it would necessitate to bring Hojbjerg to the Wanda Metropolitano this summer. The ball is in their court to decide whether to proceed with the transfer or not.

Hojbjerg, valued at £15m, is in an ambiguous situation at Tottenham: he’s not a fundamental player, yet not entirely dispensable. Even so, there’s a chance that he might be open to a move as he doesn’t seem to be a major part of Ange Postecoglou’s strategies for the upcoming season.

It’s a situation that’s worth monitoring closely.
