A news correspondent Proposes Tottenham Possible Exclusion of Their £25m Player From Their 25-Member Premier League Squad

The existing Tottenham squad is overcrowded.

Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, and Tanguy Ndombele have rejoined Spurs after finishing their loan tenures, pushing the team’s total senior player count to over 30.

However, the Premier League rules specify that only 25 players can be registered from each team. This necessitates making tough choices for some players’ future.

Journalist Martin Lipton, while contributing to Last Word on Spurs, speculated that Ryan Sessegnon might be the one to face this bitter fate.

Sessegnon, valued at £25m, is currently rehabilitating from a surgery and isn’t expected to return until the end of the year.

Given these circumstances, Tottenham might not include him in their 25-man Premier League squad, especially not in the initial phase of the season.

Sessegnon’s Unlikely Registration

Lipton offered his viewpoints on this potential situation.

“Taking into account Spence’s situation, Sessegnon, despite being part of the club, is likely not to be in the squad due to his injury. There’s uncertainty if he will recover by December end. Thus, registering him in the team, considering his fitness levels, would be pointless. Reguilon is another player that I would let go of immediately, given his inadequate performance,” Lipton expressed.

Reasonable Approach

Though a squad exclusion can be disheartening, it’s practical for Tottenham to sideline Sessegnon.

If he is not expected to recover before January, there is no sense in his inclusion.

He can be enlisted once the new year begins. Given the overpopulation of the current Spurs squad, it wouldn’t be cost-effective to occupy a spot with a player who’s incapable of playing.

Although Sessegnon’s future at Spurs still holds potential, it wouldn’t stir up surprise if he misses the registration cut-off.
