Tottenham Hotspur has been connected to Gleison Bremer in previous transfer windows, and the rumor is resurfacing.
As Spurs are said to be on the hunt for defensive reinforcements, the speculation is intensifying.
Tuttosport has reported that Tottenham is now among the top contenders to sign Bremer.
According to the Italian publication, cited by Sport Witness, Spurs are ‘leading the pack’ to sign the Juventus and Brazil star.
Tottenham reportedly has solid connections regarding the potential signing, and they need to strengthen their squad.
With the future of Davinson Sanchez and Clement Lenglet in doubt, Spurs may need to find replacements if they leave.
The report suggests that Tottenham’s management will provide Ange Postecoglou with a ‘high-quality replacement.’
Spurs are said to be targeting a ‘young, yet prepared’ center-back, and Bremer fits the description.
The 26-year-old is allegedly listed alongside Marc Guehi, Micky van de Ven, and Edmond Tapsoba as potential options.
Juventus is not actively looking to offload Bremer, but they are ‘awaiting the right offer’ before considering letting him go.
Our view
It is not surprising that Spurs are reportedly pursuing Bremer, given that he is a top-tier defender in his prime.
In 2022, he was awarded Serie A Defender of the Year, and he was also named in their Team of the Season.
Besides being a skilled defender, Bremer is also known for scoring goals on occasion.
Last season, the Brazil international scored five goals across all competitions, with four of them coming in Serie A.
Regarding Bremer, Torino manager Ivan Juric told DAZN (via Calciomercato) in 2021: “He always wants to score, he’s goal-driven.
“In fact, he was upset for missing shots (against Udinese in November).”
Bremer shares the same agency – CAA Base – as Son Heung-min, Richarlison, and Pedro Porro.
With existing connections, a demand for his skills, and no significant obstacles, this transfer rumor appears plausible.
