Earlier this week, it seemed Tottenham were making significant progress in their negotiations with Micky Van de Ven.

Reports indicated that the Dutch defender was on the verge of finalizing a contract with Tottenham, and talks with Wolfsburg were said to be advancing smoothly.

Yet, this isn’t the situation, claims Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge.

The Sky Sports News correspondent mentioned that while there have been suggestions about the deal nearing completion, he has not had any such confirmation specifically related to the center-back.

Deal not nearly complete

Bridge commented on the current state of the deal.

“Micky Van de Ven is a big name that will surely be echoed on Tottenham High Road if they manage to sign him. Talks with Wolfsburg are ongoing, and while there are claims elsewhere that the deal is close to realization, my information does not confirm that yet. However, what we do know is that Tottenham needs a top-notch center-back before their game against Brentford,” asserted Bridge.

Did anyone really expect this transaction to be simple?

Tottenham Hotspur is renowned for their unconventional methods. They seem to revel in the final phase of negotiations, even when they are under pressure, they manage to prolong the process.
