Tottenham Hotspur have submitted a bid for Leicester City’s James Maddison.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs have made their initial attempt to sign the England international.
Tottenham are expected to announce their first summer signing soon.
Hugo Lloris’s tenure as the club’s primary goalkeeper seems to be nearing its end.
This is due to the anticipated arrival of Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli after an impressive Serie A season.

New manager Ange Postecoglou knows that Tottenham needs more than a new goalkeeper this summer.
With the team having missed European football last season, significant improvements must be made quickly.
James Maddison has been identified as one of Tottenham’s main targets, and they have now submitted their opening bid for the 26-year-old.
However, Leicester might not be pleased with their initial offer.
Spurs submit Maddison bid
The Daily Mail report indicates that Leicester wants £60m for the 26-year-old with one year left on his contract, but Spurs’ initial bid is approximately half that amount.
Leicester accepting Tottenham’s bid for the talented playmaker would be quite surprising.
Given Leicester’s valuation of Maddison and their need for new players this summer, they cannot afford to let him go at such a low price.
Leicester will hope that Newcastle’s interest in Maddison will push Spurs to increase their offer.
Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy is known for making ambitious opening bids, like in the case of Maddison.

Spurs have a reputation for being tough negotiators during transfer windows and typically secure favorable deals.
For example, Dejan Kulusevski’s loan deal was converted into a permanent one this summer at a discounted price.
However, this approach often prolongs the process, and Postecoglou wouldn’t want Maddison to join at the end of summer.
Leicester has yet to respond to Tottenham’s opening bid.
Considering it is half of their asking price for Maddison, it would be surprising if the proposal is accepted.
