Tottenham Gets Promise of Commitment from 28-year-old Player Despite Interest from Other Clubs

Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur, who are hopeful of Clement Lenglet’s return this summer, have had their optimism strengthened, with the player rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia.

As per reports from Mundo Deportivo, the 28-year-old defender might consider a shift to the Saudi Pro League, but later in his career.

Barcelona plans to transfer Clement Lenglet before the closing of the transfer window. There seemed to be a possibility of him reappearing in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following his previous year’s loan agreement.

Lenglet Skips Move to Saudi Arabia Amid Tottenham Rumors

Claims from Sport earlier this week suggested that Spurs had negotiated a three-year agreement with Lenglet. Despite this, Tottenham was reluctant to meet Al-Nassr’s £12.9 million bid for the centre-back.

It was assumed that Ange Postecoglou’s squad might soon cease their efforts to sign Lenglet. However, Mundo Deportivo’s recent report, citing sources close to the defender, state that Lenglet has no intentions of moving to Saudi Arabia this transfer season.

The French footballer desires to continue playing in one of Europe’s premier leagues, thus potentially elevating Tottenham’s prospects.

According to the report, Barcelona doesn’t expect a substantial fee for Lenglet. Rather, their main aim is to offload his salary expenses. This could potentially give Spurs the upper hand in negotiating a lower transfer fee.

The worst-case scenario for Barcelona would be if Lenglet decides to stay at Camp Nou after this window. If he resists the move to the Middle East, Barcelona may be forced to reduce their demands.

Despite the lack of grandeur in acquiring Lenglet permanently, if Spurs can secure his services for a nominal charge, it could be a beneficial move.
