Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s Chairman, Ready to Gamble on 29-Year-Old Player

Daniel Levy is set to take a gamble by keeping Harry Kane, the renowned striker for Tottenham, in the team over the summer, hoping Kane might sign a renewal contract later in the season.

This recent development regarding the English team captain was disclosed by Graeme Bailey on the Talking Transfers Podcast.

Kane has been on the radar of Bayern Munich for a while, but Tottenham remains firm in holding on to their star player this season.

According to Bailey, Levy plans to take the risk of dismissing any bids, in the faith that Kane will ultimately consent to a contract renewal.

Levy Puts Himself at Risk

Bailey elucidates on the situation concerning the striker.

“Tottenham’s position is consistent—they intend to gamble by retaining Kane. Levy aims to sign a new contract with Kane kept on the team. Based on my backchannel conversations, there isn’t a distinct price point, but it seems that a £120m bid would induce Levy to sell,” Bailey comments.

A Risky Undertaking

Levy’s choice comes with considerable risks.

Confidence is key in football, but being pragmatic is essential when dealing with an £80m asset that could depart freely in one year.

For Tottenham to change Kane’s mind this season, they need to realistically secure a trophy and finish the league in the top four. This, however, is easier said than done due to the strengthening of Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Arsenal in this summer’s transfer period.

Levy’s gamble is a daring one, and we can only wait and see whether it prove successful or otherwise.
