Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, recently commented on speculation from Spain regarding his intentions to retain Giovani Lo Celso for the upcoming season.
The Australian coach’s remarks came after Tottenham’s impressive 5-1 victory over Lion City Sailors, a team from the Singapore Premier League.
Lo Celso, once again coming from the bench, added to his goal tally after scoring during last week’s match against West Ham.
After his return from a loan at Villarreal, the 27-year-old has found himself amidst transfer talks away from Spurs.
However, according to Spanish sports news source, MuchoDeporte, Postecoglou has persuaded Lo Celso to extend his stay in North London.
Recent statements from the Spurs leader suggest that the Argentinian midfielder is not planning to relocate this summer.

Postecoglou Implies Lo Celso to Stay on with Tottenham
In his conversation with Football.London, Postecoglou was directly questioned about the rumors from Spain regarding his intentions with Lo Celso.
“You don’t need to reference Spain, you could have simply asked me,” was his reply.
“Yes, I am quite impressed by Gio. He fits perfectly with our style of play. It’s a pleasure working with him and he appears to reciprocate the sentiment.”

Observing the pre-season, it’s evident that Lo Celso is a great fit for Postecoglou’s team strategy.
Lo Celso came to North London in 2019 from Real Betis after a remarkable season in La Liga. Originally on a loan, Spurs later spent £27 million to fully secure his services.
Lo Celso’s journey with the team has been challenging so far, even though he shone under Jose Mourinho briefly in his inaugural season.
However, it seems that a shift in Lo Celso’s fortunes at Tottenham may be on the horizon, given Postecoglou’s evident appreciation for the midfielder.
