Ange Postecoglou, the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has appointed Harry Kane as his captain for his inaugural match as manager.
Details of the team were released on Twitter prior to their friendly pre-season match in Perth against West Ham United.
A highly competitive roster has been selected by Postecoglou for the Spurs’ tour opening match.
With the imminent start of the Premier League season, Postecoglou has limited opportunities to evaluate few squad members who are on the edge.
His mission is more challenging given the current size of Tottenham’s primary squad.
Although the team was constructed with European leagues in mind, this year Spurs will participate only in home competition.
Several members may depart during the summer, striving to exploit any playing time during pre-season.
One person whom Postecoglou would wish to retain for the upcoming weeks is Harry Kane, who has been designated captain for today’s game.

He has previously presided over the team when Hugo Lloris was not present.
The Frenchman has returned to England and is looking to transfer away from the club after maintaining his position for over ten years.
Kane appointed as captain for pre-season game by Postecoglou
When asked about his upcoming captaincy decision, Postecoglou stated: “No, not yet. The choice involves understanding the group and letting it evolve.”
“It’s preferable to allow things to grow organically, rather than force any preconceived notions.”
“I want to observe how the group performs. The entire group has shown commitment to our plans, which is a positive sign.”
“You will find individuals within the group who will emerge as leaders, each in their own way.”
“It’s not always about being the loudest or most prominent, actions also do matter. My goal is to foster leadership across the entire group, enabling members to take responsibility as we commence this journey.”

Giving Kane the captain’s armband for the upcoming season seems logical for Postecoglou, provided Kane intends to stay.
He has selected a team that includes only a few mature players such as Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero.
However, Kane, a Spurs academy graduate who has captained the side numerous times, seems an optimal choice for both the current match and as long as he continues to play for Tottenham.
