Relegated Premier League Club Pursuing 27-Year-Old Tottenham Player

Leicester City, a club recently relegated from the Premier League, has expressed interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks.

The Telegraph has uncovered information that new manager Enzo Maresca is looking to acquire the 27-year-old player for the club.

Winks has had a varied experience with Tottenham, the club he joined as a youth.

Debuting as a senior player in the Europa League in 2014 under Mauricio Pochettino, Winks has since made over 200 appearances for Spurs.

Most of these appearances took place under Pochettino, as Winks saw fewer opportunities under the management of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

At the height of his game, Winks secured international recognition, playing for England 10 times.

However, his playing time has dwindled during recent seasons, with less than 1,000 minutes on the pitch in his last two full Spurs seasons.

Winks was loaned to Sampdoria the previous year but was held back by injuries and unable to assist the team in avoiding relegation.

Leicester is currently keen on bringing Winks over from Tottenham in an effort to help them regain their top-flight status.

Both clubs may engage in additional transfer deals before the summer transfer window closes.

According to the report, Leicester believes that Winks’ involvement will help secure their prompt return to the Premier League.

Additionally, they reveal that Ange Postecoglou does not see the 27-year-old fitting into his plans for the upcoming season.

Moreover, any potential move for Winks is separate from Tottenham’s pursuit of James Maddison.

Tottenham is doubling down on their efforts to sign the 26-year-old playmaker, with an agreement expected to be finalized this week.

As Winks needs more consistency on the field, joining Leicester seems like a beneficial move for him.

However, The Foxes have lost a number of first-team players this summer, as their contracts have expired.

With a significant rebuilding task ahead, Maresca aims to have Winks as one of the new additions in this transfer window.

The competition in the Championship is known for being fierce, but it could offer the ideal opportunity for Winks to regain his top form.
