After his successful loan tenure at Udinese, the Italian right-back has joined Spurs, in a deal which cost the club an estimated £15 million.

Supporters of Spurs are eagerly anticipating Udogie playing under the new management of Ange Postecoglou in the forthcoming period.

Though Udogie, who spent a significant part of his career as a left-wing back, doesn’t ideally align with Postecoglou’s favored 4-3-3, he is expected to vie for the position against players like Ben Davies.

Apart from representing Italy’s Under 21 side 8 times, the 20-year-old featured in 33 games for Udinese in Serie A last season, contributing to three goals and helping with four assists.

Udogie’s Pre-season Performance Crucial for Making His Mark in Tottenham

Udogie’s performance in the recent Under-21 European Championships, where he represented Italy’s Under 21 side, didn’t stand out as expected.

The left wing-back was culpable for France’s winning goal in the last few moments of the opening game and was absent from the team’s next two games prior to their exit from the tournament.

However, Udogie is said to have cut his vacation short to enhance his performance in the pre-season training and impress the new manager at Spurs.

With healthy competition for several roles at Spurs, particularly full-back, showcasing his skills in Australia won’t prove detrimental to Udogie’s chances.

Pedro Porro, who was at the receiving end of Udogie’s impressive show in the training exercise, could also enhance his performance to strengthen his position under the new manager, given his typical role as a wing-back.

Porro, 23, was a £40m summer signing from Sporting Lisbon last year. Despite his impressive forward runs, he may need to bolster his defensive skills under Ange’s supervision.

Adapting to the legacy left by the previous manager’s 3-4-3 style will be a challenging task for Postecoglou as he begins his tenure at the club.
