Journalist’s Insights on Harry Kane’s Status During Tottenham Training Camp

Harry Kane’s future with Tottenham is still under question.

The forward is reportedly attracting interest from Bayern Munich, making his continuity at Spurs more doubtful than ever.

Indeed, there were similar doubts about Kane’s continuity two years ago following his controversial conversation with Gary Neville on The Overlap. However, this time, no such comments have been made public.

Although, nothing has been heard directly from Kane, observations have been made by several journalists who had close interactions with him during Tottenham’s pre-season camp over the past couple of weeks.

One such observer was Tom Barclay who disclosed on The Tottenham Way Podcast about Kane’s participation during the camp. He pointed out that it seemed rather unusual that Kane, the captain of the England team, did not interact with the media this time around unlike the previous seasons.

Intriguing

Barclay talked about his observation of Kane.

“The experience was unlike the previous summer in Seoul when Harry was free to communicate. We didn’t get to speak to him at all this time. During an event where I had a conversation with Eric Dier, Harry was present and although he signed many shirts, his lack of interaction with the media was certainly noticeable,” Barclay said.

Strategic

There are a couple of ways to interpret this.

One could interpret Kane’s silence as a hint of an impending departure from Tottenham. Alternatively, this could be seen as a tactical move from Spurs to control the narrative.

Consider this; if the Spurs media manager had put Kane up for an interview, the primary focus would have been transfer rumours, overshadowing nearly all other topics.

Kane refrained from speaking to the media, a preference which can be deemed preferable in order to prevent fuelling further transfer rumours.
