Rio Ferdinand expressed disappointment over Harry Maguire’s recent performance, who is currently a potential target for Tottenham Hotspur.
Ferdinand was discussing the defender, valued at £30m, for The Athletic.
Harry Maguire, currently a defender for Manchester United, has had a less than ideal summer.
It appears that Maguire is no longer required at Old Trafford, and he’s been removed from his captaincy role.
It is unlikely that Erik ten Hag has a role for Maguire in his plans for the upcoming season.
He is lagging behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and even Luke Shaw in the pecking order.

Maguire may need to leave Man United in the upcoming summer, and Tottenham could be his possible escape route.
Ange Postecoglou is urgently hunting for centre-backs, and the 30-year-old Maguire could be a viable solution.
Ferdinand has admitted his disappointment with Maguire’s performance at Man United.
With the European Championships a year away, the England international must improve his form to secure his participation.
Ferdinand expresses his disappointment over Maguire, a potential Tottenham target
Ferdinand, commenting on the defender, stated: “Harry [Maguire], the former captain of Manchester United, plays the same position as I do.
“I root for him to perform well. His form with the England team is exceptional, and no one cheers louder than me for his achievements on the team.
“However, his performance with Manchester United has not been on par, and I simply call things as I see them.
“He may not appreciate some of my comments, but if he self-assesses, he would agree with my analysis and feel disappointed that I even have to mention it.
“But I’m just doing my job, and I don’t carry any bias. I have communicated with Harry privately, and if I believe his performance isn’t good, I will voice it.
“I try to always maintain professionalism, and if my comments are bordering on vindictiveness or personal attacks, then it’s time to step back. However, I believe in honesty; if their performance is excellent, then great. If not, I’ll honestly point it out.”

Just like Ferdinand, Maguire is likely also dissatisfied with his performance at Man United.
Whether moving to Tottenham is the right choice for him this summer is still in question.
Everton and West Ham are also interested in him, and their style of football may better suit Maguire’s skills.
Postecoglou will require his centre-backs to display comfort with the ball at their feet and have significant recovery speed.
While Maguire is an excellent ball-playing defender, his performance in a high line has often been found wanting.
It seems like Spurs may be looking at Micky Van de Ven instead, who is known for his remarkable speed.
