Potential Title Champions Look to Solidify £8.6m Summer Transfer of 28-Year-Old to Tottenham

Barcelona remains optimistic about striking an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for approximately £8.6 million to transfer Clement Lenglet this summer.

As reported by Sport, Tottenham has offered £4.3 million for the French player after his year-long loan.

Following his season in North London, the future of Clement Lenglet remains uncertain. Tottenham confirmed his goodbye on their retained list. However, there could still be an opportunity for the 28-year-old to return.

Barcelona hope to strike a deal with Tottenham regarding Lenglet

In fact, according to Sport, Barcelona believes that Tottenham’s announcement of his departure was a tactic to decrease the cost of signing him on a permanent basis.

Barcelona initially asked for £12.9 million for the defender, while Tottenham hoped to pay a much lower amount.

It remains uncertain if a compromise can be found. However, Sport suggests that the Catalan team still hopes both clubs will agree on a £8.6 million (€10 million) fee.

Tottenham might believe they hold the upper hand. It is evident that Barcelona wants to sell Lenglet this summer, and the Spurs, under Ange Postecoglou, have other prospects in mind.

Even if Tottenham fails to obtain Lenglet, they may believe their persistence could pay off later in the transfer window.

It appears that all parties would like the move to happen, and there isn’t a considerable gap in their respective valuations. Therefore, it seems reasonable to assume that an agreement could be reached eventually.

However, Tottenham may be willing to keep the deal on hold while they focus on their primary targets during this transfer period.
